Letter Learning /b/
For the uppercase 'B', start at the top of the page. Draw a straight
line down and stop. Jump back up to the top and go out to the right, curve
around to join back in the middle of your straight line. Then curve around one
more time to join back at the bottom of the first line.
To make a lowercase 'b' start at the top and make a straight line
down. Jump back up to the middle of the line and go out to the right,
curve around to meet your first line at the bottom of the line.
Last Week:
We were very lucky to visit Ms. Fournier's hedgehog named Thistle. We learned that hedgehogs are insectivores, meaning it eats insects! We enjoyed watching Thistle eat mealworms. Thank you to Ms. Fournier's class for letting us visit!
Children have been working towards using their knowledge of letter sounds independently to stretch out words in order to write the phonetic letter sounds that they hear. Using the sentence starter of "It is a" children are able to hear the big sounds in words. Beginning sight words such as I, like, see, it, is, a, the are helpful as we begin to take our single word writing into sentences. We have been talking about how our writing should sound like we speak. For example, if I say "I like rainbows. I would have to add an 's' to rainbows instead of just writing "I like rainbow."
While we continue to think like an engineer...the students were asked, "What materials would you use to build a house? Would you use paper, plastic or corks?"
