Letter Learning /u/
U says /u/ as in up, umbrella and under. When making the uppercase U, remember that we always
start our letters at the top. Then draw a big line down, turn and a big line up to the top. The lowercase u, we start at the top and travel down, turn and travel up to the top. Finally come back straight down.
Last Week:
Royal Oak "Bakery"
A new dramatic play centre was created! The "Royal Oak Bakery" is now open. In this centre, customers practice their subitizing (the ability to tell the number of objects in a set, quickly, without counting) skills by rolling a dice to determine how many marshmallows, chocolate chips and sprinkles will be added to their cookies.
Bakers practice their counting skills by carefully filling each order and decorating the cookies. All children are practicing how to communicate effectively with each other.
Students also practiced their sorting skills as they deconstructed their cookies after eating!
"Do you need a plate for your cookie?" |
"I put 4 marshmallows on this cookie for my customer!" |
"My cookie will have two chocolate chips." |
"We have to bake a lot of cookies." |
We continue to demonstrate our understanding of sorting through various self-guided centres.
"We organized our dinosaurs.
Do you see they are all the same kind on this side?
And on the other side, they are different too."
